Actor Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer 2 States was loved by fans and critics during its release in April 2014. The romantic film was directed by Abhishek Verman. Arjun recently revealed that Alia Bhatt received a lot of hate when she was finalised for the role of Ananya, a South Indian girl.

Arjun stated that people thought she was the right choice to play a South Indian character. He also lauded the actress for her remarkable work and how she changed people’s views with her work. Speaking to Mashable India, she said, “There was absolute disdain and hatred against Alia on social media when she signed 2 States. It was because they said she didn’t look like a South Indian, and her previous film Student Of The Year hadn’t given her that kind of recognition that was needed to play that role, which was already established at that point, because many people had read the book.”
He also went on to reveal that several actresses wanted to portray her role in the film. As per Arjun, Alia passed the audition and played her part well. He further added, “There were also other big names that were considered exciting and visually relevant for the role. But Alia just kept her head down and worked. I never heard her complain about anything on the set. She did an audition, she did a photoshoot and that was the day they decided that she was the right choice for the role.”
Arjun stated that she changed the world’s opinion in one Friday night. The actress shot for two films, Highway and 2 States, at the same time.

On the work front, Arjun is riding high on the success of his recent release, cop drama Singham Again. It also stars Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Tiger Shroff in pivotal roles. The film is directed by Rohit Shetty.
On the other hand, Alia was last seen in Jigra, which was released in October. It failed to elicit expected numbers and turned out to be a dud. Now, Alia is focusing on her next project and is busy shooting for Alpha.
